Our Story

Following the purchase of the Kings Head in November 2012, the doors of the pub were shut in April 2013 so that an exciting and extensive refurbishment could take place. Shortly before works began, Katie and Duncan joined forces with Head Chef Daniel Tompkins and his wife Natalie as General Manager. The team have listened to local opinion and have been overwhelmed by the good wishes for the venture. All hands have been on deck for the ambitious project with major works required on the exterior and interior of the pub.

A major focus of the project was to bring back a ‘local bar’ and combine this with a new restaurant “Brasserie 23″ at the Kings Head. With the help of a fantastic team of builders, painters and decorators the Kings Head re-opened on the 11th June 2013, showcasing a modern and contemporary dining experience.

The Perfect Venue

With large comfy leather sofas and low lighting – the Kings Head is the perfect venue to relax with friends. Large Sipsmith bottles of barley vodka and gin complete the artisan décor and a really warm welcome is promised to locals and visitors alike. The shabby chic style is also a theme in the new coffee shop opened to cater for morning and daytime trade. Serving delicious homemade cakes and scones accompanied by an eclectic choice of homemade milk shakes, Tea Pig teas and Grumpy Mule coffees.

So whether you are looking for a chilled night out with friends, a daytime rendezvous over coffee and cakes, or the ultimate dining experience, look no further than the Kings Head, Spratton. And find out what all the fuss is about.

The Team

Danny Tompkins
Danny TompkinsHead Chef
Our super talented Head Chef Danny Tompkins has years of experience within catering and still has the same passion for food as he did when he started at 14 years old. Like many he started off as a pot wash but was eager to progress as quickly as possible.

He left school and went straight into catering college – keen to get on he then went straight into his first role. His passion has always been to use fresh, seasonal local produce where possible and create his own dishes using inspiration from British dishes with the odd bit of Spanish influence. Sampling some of the best foods and restaurants around the world has motivated and inspired Danny to create the best dishes and flavours with his own signature twist.

Natalie Tompkins
Natalie TompkinsGeneral Manager
Throughout her career Natalie’s passion has been providing the best customer satisfaction possible. After spending many years eating out in restaurants and then supporting husband Danny with private dinner parties, Natalie often got the feeling that a more personal approach was lacking when it came to eating out.

When the opportunity came up to run the Kings Head with Danny, they both felt it was the right time. Natalie was eager to put her personal stamp on the place and create a more intimate dining experience, so she left her office role and came on board to start the new challenge of creating the all new Brasserie 23 at The Kings Head!
